The genre of a film is established early in the film through its opening scene. Therefore we took the opportunity to research different film openings so it would be easier of me and my team to decide which film genre to choose
The most classic way to open up a horror film is with a scare or significant moment of tension.
2. Thriller:
The opening scene of a thriller film introduces the crime, conflict, or stakes as quickly as possible. They hook their readers with instant action, then fill in the necessary character and storyline information later.
3. Romance:
They start by introducing a love interest early on plot revolves around the love between two protagonists. This genre usually has a theme that explores an issue within love, including but not limited to: love at first sight, forbidden love, love triangles, and sacrificial love.
Upon research, I came across an interesting term "In Medias Res". This is a method used by many action filmmakers. Starting a film in medias res can be chaotic for the characters in the story. This causes the audience to be thrown into the chaos very early on. Beginning a film in medias res enables the filmmaker to capture the audience’s attention in a dramatic and sometimes intense, emotionally-charged fashion.
