Today I learned more about our media course. It is based on 4 main media concepts:
language, representation, industry and audience
Language:
This key concept is about how the media text is conveyed to the audience for their understanding.
This can be done by using different type of symbols and signs that represent the scene and its environment. All micro elements used in the scenes should bring some meaning to the media text
Representation:
Representation is how media deals with gender, age, ethnicity, national and regional identity, social issues and events to an audience. We have been taught that media has the power to shape the mind of the audience and their knowledge and understanding about important topics and issues
Industry:
The media industry consists of film, television, radio and print. These segments include movies, TV shows, radio shows, news, music, newspaper, magazines and books. When learning about the industry there a lot of different types of questions that should be given importance to like:
- How do media institutions work?
- Who constructed the media?
